Hyderabad: Telangana’s in-charge Minister for Hyderabad, Ponnam Prabhakar, conducted a surprise inspection of the Urban Primary Health Centre and Unani Hospital at Chintal Basti on Friday.
He checked the attendance registers to verify staff presence at both facilities. He also reviewed medicine stock in the dispensary and enquired about staff strength and doctors’ duties from Public Health Nurse Shakuntala.
Prabhakar advised that all patients reporting at the facilities must be provided with proper treatment to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. He directed the medical officer to take disciplinary action against ANMs absent from duty.
He also contacted field-deployed ANMs over phone to confirm their duty locations and gathered feedback from local residents regarding their performance.
The minister instructed doctors to ensure timely medication for all patients, particularly pregnant women, postpartum mothers, and elderly individuals, without any negligence.
He said vacancies, including for medical officers, would be filled. He inspected the outpatient ward register and told health department officials to conduct regular checks to ensure medicine shortages do not occur in district hospitals, area hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres, and urban health centres.
