Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday took part in the Rythu Nestham event at the Rythu Vedika in Meesanpalli village of Ellareddy constituency, Kamareddy district, marking the disbursal of Rythu Bharosa funds to local farmers.
He joined farmers in distributing sweets and celebrating the payout under the Congress government’s investment assistance scheme.
The Minister said that in just nine days, the Revanth Reddy-led administration had transferred ₹9,000 crore to farmers’ accounts across Telangana under the Rythu Bharosa programme.
He said the scale and speed of the disbursal were unmatched, and lakhs of farmers were celebrating the support provided ahead of the Kharif season.
The event was attended by local MLA Madan Mohan, Kamareddy District Collector Ashish Sangwan, agriculture department officials, and farmers.
Ponnam said the Congress government, formed with public support, was committed to prioritising farmer welfare. He said Telangana’s future depended on agricultural well-being and that no state could flourish while farmers were in distress.
He said the government would support all forms of cultivation—maize, cotton, oil palm, and vegetables—and advised farmers not to leave even a single gunta uncultivated.
He added that 1.10 lakh farmers in the Ellareddy constituency alone had received ₹100 crore in Rythu Bharosa support.
The Minister reiterated Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s assurance that the government would implement every idea that contributes to farmer development.
