Hyderabad: Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy called on officials to ensure the success of the government’s 99-day special programme, Praja Palana–Pragathi Pranalika.
He made the remarks during a preparatory meeting held at the IDOC conference hall in Khammam. District in-charge minister Vakiti Srihari chaired the meeting.
Addressing officials, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy asked them to identify problems faced by people at the grassroots level. He directed departments to work with commitment to resolve those issues.
The minister also reviewed drainage works taken up earlier in municipalities and municipal corporations. In several areas, he said, improper levels caused stagnation of sewage water.
Such conditions could threaten public health, he warned. Therefore, engineering officials must identify problematic locations and correct them immediately.

The minister also asked officials to resolve long-pending forest and revenue land disputes in the undivided Khammam district.
He pointed out that the issue remained serious in constituencies such as Kothagudem, Sathupalli, Yellandu and Wyra. Farmers in these areas continued to face difficulties because of unresolved boundaries.
Collectors, forest officials and revenue staff must jointly conduct field surveys and finalise boundaries, he said. Officials must aim for a complete solution during the 99-day programme.
The minister also announced a training programme Praja Palana–Pragathi Pranalika for newly elected local body representatives. The session will take place on the 12th of this month at the undivided district level.
Sarpanches, councillors, mayors and chairpersons will receive training on governance and fund utilisation.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said experienced officials would conduct the sessions. The training will help representatives understand procedures related to development funds.
He noted that pending panchayat funds from the past two years are now being released. Local representatives must work with village secretaries to ensure transparent spending for development works.
The minister also expressed concern over the excessive use of fertilisers and pesticides by farmers.
As part of the programme, officials will create awareness on soil testing and crop rotation practices. Agriculture officers must directly interact with farmers and explain modern farming techniques.
He also suggested organising exposure visits for farmers to observe successful agricultural practices in other regions.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy stressed that elected representatives must focus on public service after elections. Development programmes should include participation from both ruling and opposition leaders.
Officials should also prioritise sectors such as education, healthcare and agriculture, he added.
Collectors, MLAs, MLCs, senior officials from various departments and municipal representatives attended the meeting.
