Hyderabad: Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy paid an emotional tribute to senior Congress leader Yadavalli Ramireddy by personally attending his funeral in Paleru on Saturday.
Ramireddy, who had actively worked for party strengthening and remained a close associate of the minister, passed away untimely. His death deeply affected Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, who joined the last rites amid a large gathering in Paleru.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy sets aside protocol at funeral
During the funeral, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy set aside official protocol and personally carried the bier of his late associate. He walked alongside party workers and local leaders up to the cremation ground, reflecting his close bond with Ramireddy. Many present were moved by the gesture of a sitting minister participating as an ordinary worker.
Meanwhile, Paleru village witnessed an outpouring of grief as thousands gathered for the final rites. The atmosphere turned emotional as people watched the minister bid farewell with tears, despite holding a high constitutional position.
Senior Congress leader Ramireddy’s death left Paleru in deep mourning. Addressing the gathering, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the party had lost a committed leader. He stated that Ramireddy’s role in his political journey remained unforgettable. He also assured full support to the bereaved family.
Several Congress leaders from the constituency attended the funeral and stood in solidarity with the family.
