Hyderabad: Hackers hit the police website networks of the Cyberabad and Rachakonda units. Both portals stayed down for a week. Police said malware may have entered the servers and caused the shutdown. The breach exposed police station details and contact numbers of officers.
Teams from both units moved fast after the issue surfaced. They isolated the affected systems. They also checked how far the attack spread on each police website.

The National Informatics Centre guided the recovery work. A cyber security team from Delhi joined the effort. The team began to restore both portals. Police updated key software to keep the systems stable and reduce further risk.
The IT wing also checked stronger firewalls to block more attacks on any police website. Cybercrime teams started work to identify the group behind the hack.
