Pig theft dispute turns deadly in Nagar Kurnool, one killed, four injured

Hyderabad: A violent clash over suspected pig theft in Kalwakurthy municipality of Nagar Kurnool district left one man dead and four others seriously injured on Wednesday.

The deceased, Kond Ramulu (45), was a pig rearer from Vidyanagar locality. According to reports, Ramulu and his associates had received information that their missing pigs had been traced to a shed near Pothepally village in Veldanda mandal. When they visited the location, a group of men attacked them with sticks and sickles.

Victim’s family blames police inaction for fatal attack

The assailants, identified as Manapati Venkatamma, Pavan Kumar, Shiva, Ashwin, and Krishna, allegedly launched the attack resulting in Ramulu’s death at the scene. Ramachandri, Venkataiah, and Mahesh were seriously injured and admitted to hospital for treatment.

Relatives of the deceased accused the local police of negligence. They said prior complaints had been filed at both Veldanda and Kalwakurthy police stations about ongoing pig thefts, but no preventive action was taken. They alleged that the tragedy could have been avoided had authorities acted in time.
