Hyderabad: Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Konda Surekha on Tuesday reviewed arrangements for the Phule statues inauguration, scheduled to be held on April 11 by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad.
The ministers inspected the progress of statue construction at Lake View Park, located opposite the IMAX Theatre on Tank Bund. The statues of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule were nearing completion at the site.
They later held a review meeting with key leaders to assess preparations for the Phule statues inauguration. During the meeting, they directed officials to complete installation work two days before the event.
Officials were also asked to ensure proper arrangements at the venue. The ministers stressed that precautions should be taken so that visitors and participants do not face inconvenience.
Phule statues inauguration arrangements and coordination reviewed
Ponnam Prabhakar said the government was installing the statues at an approximate cost of Rs. 4 crore. Prabhakar confirmed that the Phule statues inauguration would be conducted by the Chief Minister on April 11.
Ponnam Prabhakar said statues were installed to encourage people to reflect on the lives and contributions of leaders. He noted that Savitribai Phule worked to promote women’s education, while Mahatma Jyotiba Phule fought for social justice for backward classes.
He directed the HMDA, GHMC and Hyderabad district administration to coordinate closely. According to him, such coordination would ensure the smooth conduct of the Phule statues inauguration.

He said the proposal would be brought to the attention of the Chief Minister. The suggestion came as part of broader efforts linked to the Phule statues inauguration and recognition of their contributions.
Several public representatives and officials attended the programme. These included MLC Basavaraju Saraiah, Government Whips Aadi Srinivas and Birla Ailaiah, and MLAs Danam Nagender, Kavvampally Satyanarayana, Naveen Yadav, Kaleru Venkatesh and Mutha Gopal.
