Jawaharnagar dumpyard pollution raises health concerns
Purushotham Reddy warned that pollution from the Jawaharnagar dumpyard posed serious risks to people living in nearby localities. He called for a lasting solution to prevent further deterioration of air and water quality around the waste disposal site.
Reddy also referred to an earlier order of the National Green Tribunal directing the removal of the dumpyard. According to the environmentalist, the tribunal had issued the directive nearly 25 years ago. He demanded that authorities implement the order without further delay.
Furthermore, Reddy stressed that protecting public health required effective action against environmental pollution. He reiterated that residents had a right to clean air and drinking water. He also urged the government to fulfil its responsibility to safeguard these basic needs.
Eatala Rajender urges government to use advanced technology
Meanwhile, BJP MP Eatala Rajender accused the government and the contractor of disregarding court orders concerning the Jawaharnagar dumpyard. He urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to address the waste disposal problem through advanced technology.
Rajender maintained that authorities should take effective measures to resolve Jawaharnagar dumpyard pollution and protect residents in surrounding areas. The MP raised the issue during the second day of his padayatra at Ghatkesar.
Apart from the dumpyard issue, Rajender demanded immediate construction of the long-pending Ghatkesar flyover. He alleged that funding-related delays had stalled the project and affected public safety.
The BJP MP urged the government to address the financial obstacles and proceed with construction. He linked the demand to concerns over public safety, calling for action on the delayed infrastructure project.
