Oxytocin injections seized in Adilabad for illegal use in cattle

Hyderabad: Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) and Adilabad Police seized 109 unlabelled bottles of Oxytocin injections in a joint raid on January 22. Officials found the illegal stock with Mautho Aravind Kumar in Adilabad. Notably, the operation resulted in Oxytocin injections seized by authorities.

He had stored the hormone for unauthorized sale and use in dairy cattle. According to DCA, the hormone is often misused to increase milk yield. However, such use is dangerous and can harm animal health. Therefore, Oxytocin injections seized in such cases highlight the risks and legal consequences involved.

DCA warns against illegal hormone use in livestock

Drugs Inspector Smt. A. Srilatha and Police Officer Sri K. Nagaraju led the raid. Their teams located 109 transparent PET bottles, each 200 ml, allegedly containing Oxytocin. The Oxytocin injections seized in these raids underscore the strict enforcement by DCA and police officials.

Officials confirmed that a full investigation is underway. They also said legal action will follow against everyone involved.

DCA warned that selling or storing Oxytocin without authorization is a criminal offence. Violators can face up to five years in prison under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Clearly, the Oxytocin injections seized will be critical evidence in the legal proceedings.

The agency urged the public to report illegal drug activities. This includes misuse, manufacturing, or sale of narcotics or psychotropic substances. Complaints can be made via the Telangana DCA toll-free number: 1800-599-6969, active from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on working days.
