Outsourcing health staff protest at Hyderabad Urban Primary Health Centre, demand release of pending salaries
Hyderabad: Outsourcing employees of the Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department staged a protest at the Hyderabad Urban Primary Health Centre on Tuesday, demanding immediate release of five months’ pending salaries. Police detained the protesters during the demonstration.
Workers voice distress and demand job security
The employees demanded that the government abolish outsourcing agencies as promised in the election manifesto and provide salaries through corporations to ensure job security. They also sought an ex gratia of ₹10 lakh with a job for one dependent in case of death, along with monthly salary payments by the 5th.
Several workers broke down while narrating their plight. One employee said, “We have not received salaries for five months. How can we survive? We borrowed money to feed our families, but now even landlords ask us to vacate rooms for not paying rent. Regular staff assign us more work but deny us wages.”
A woman ECG technician from Garla in Mahabubabad district also wept as she explained her struggles. “I mark attendance daily in the Face app, but we still do not get salaries. They deny us leave and force us into unrelated work. We cannot pay school fees. We do not even have rice at home to eat,” she said.
The protesting employees accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its promises. They urged the Chief Minister to intervene and clear the long-pending dues without delay.
