Hyderabad: Oil Marketing Companies assured that fuel availability in Telangana remained adequate and urged the public to avoid panic buying.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Limited issued the statement on Wednesday amid a surge in fuel purchases.
Petrol and diesel stocks remained sufficient across Hyderabad and all districts, the companies said. In addition, all terminals and supply points were fully stocked.
Fuel availability Telangana remains stable despite surge
Fuel supplies to retail outlets continued smoothly to meet demand, the companies said. However, they noted an unusual surge in purchases at some locations.
According to the companies, panic buying triggered the sudden spike in demand. As a result, a few outlets reported temporary disruptions.
They clarified that there was no shortage of petrol or diesel. Moreover, they stressed that the disruptions were short-term and demand-driven.
To address the situation, the companies prioritised supplies to affected outlets. Meanwhile, teams continuously monitored inventory levels at petrol pumps.
Fuel availability Telangana maintained with supply measures
The companies urged the public not to stock fuel unnecessarily. They said the supply chain functioned normally and ensured adequate availability.
Further, they warned against storing petrol in plastic cans, bottles or other unapproved containers. Such practices, they said, posed serious safety risks.
Refinery supplies continued without interruption, the companies said. Additionally, production had been ramped up to maintain steady fuel availability in Telangana.
They reiterated their commitment to ensuring uninterrupted supply and customer safety. At the same time, efforts were underway to restore normal conditions quickly at all outlets.
The statement came as authorities sought to counter rumours and stabilise fuel demand. Therefore, it reinforced the message that supply remained sufficient despite temporary pressure from increased purchases.
