Hyderabad: Drug tests carried out by Telangana police during New Year celebrations led to the detection of a DJ player who tested positive for drugs at a mall in the Kukatpally area.

During New Year festivities at a prominent mall in Kukatpally, police subjected a DJ player to drug testing around midnight. The test confirmed the consumption of narcotic substances, officials said.

Following the positive result, police detained the DJ player for questioning. Officers began an inquiry into the source of the drugs and the individual’s possible links to suppliers and other users.
Police officials said the intensified drug tests formed part of preventive measures to maintain law and order during New Year celebrations. They added that similar checks continued across the city throughout the night.
Officials reiterated that the police would take strict action against anyone found using or supplying drugs during public events. They also warned organisers and participants to adhere to the law during celebrations.
