Nalgonda DCC row exposes cracks in Telangana Congress

Hyderabad: The selection of the Nalgonda District Congress Committee (DCC) president has sparked open dissent in the Telangana Congress. Senior leader Gummula Mohan Reddy accused party leaders of ignoring him due to his caste and his ties to Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.

Mohan Reddy, who was seeking the DCC post, claimed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka blocked his chances and supported newcomers instead. He argued that his seniority and years of service were overlooked.

“Posts go to those who insult fellow party members. I’ve served without blackmailing anyone,” he said. According to him, many leaders who joined later received top corporation posts while dedicated workers like him were pushed aside.

He also accused the party high command of choosing leaders based on caste. Mohan Reddy demanded the RTC Chairman post and said he could get it in a day if Komatireddy backed him.

Nalgonda DCC row reflects deepening Congress factionalism

He clarified that he did not support Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy in the Munugodu bypoll and blamed party members for spreading false claims against him at that time.

Observers believe the row over the DCC post shows growing rifts in the district Congress. The conflict points to a deeper divide between local leaders and those heading the party in Hyderabad.
