Murder of Ismail Shaikh under Bahadurpura flyover: Accused arrested

Hyderabad: Police on Monday arrested one person in connection with the murder of Ismail Chat Umiyan Shaikh, 33, a tailor, whose body was recovered on 29 June under the Bahadurpura flyover. The South Zone Task Force and Bahadurpura police identified the accused as Shaik Mohsin, 25, a cook from Ramnaspura, Hyderabad.

According to investigators, Shaikh’s wife Taiba Ismail Shaikh filed a complaint after her husband was found dead near the Honda showroom under the flyover. Police shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital for autopsy and registered a murder case.

Officials stated that Shaikh and the accused knew each other through local contacts. About a week before the killing, they had argued over a small hand loan. Shaikh allegedly refused to lend money and insulted Mohsin in foul language. Police said this triggered resentment in Mohsin, who decided to kill him.

On 29 June, around 4 pm, the deceased and the accused, along with two others, consumed alcohol at Bilal Nagar, Kalapather. Around 5:30 pm, Mohsin took Shaikh for a walk towards Kamela Road, then on to Bahadurpura Road, and later to Daba at Puranapul, stopping to smoke. They returned to Bahadurpura flyover near the Honda showroom.

Police said Mohsin again demanded repayment of the loan, which Shaikh refused. In anger, Mohsin allegedly picked up a wooden stick and struck Shaikh on the head, causing him to collapse with bleeding injuries. Mohsin then pressed the victim’s throat with his hands until he died on the spot.

The accused was arrested in a joint operation by Inspector S. Raghavendra of the South Zone Task Force, Inspector M. Praveen Kumar of Bahadurpura police, and their teams.
