Hyderabad: The Central Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee and the Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Deccan confirmed the sighting of the Muharram crescent in a meeting held Thursday evening.
The monthly session, convened to determine the start of the Islamic month, was conducted at Hussaini Building, Moazzam Jahi Market under the supervision of Maulana Syed Hasan Ibrahim Husaini Qadri Sajjada Pasha, General Secretary and Acting President of the Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Deccan.
Following the sighting, it was announced that 1st Muharram 1447 Hijri will fall on Friday, June 27. Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram, will be observed on Sunday, July 6.
