MLC Kavitha slams BJP, Congress over BC reservations

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC K. Kavitha criticised both the BJP and Congress on Wednesday, accusing them of lacking real commitment to Backward Classes (BCs) and social justice.

Speaking at the organisation’s foundation day event in Jubilee Hills, Kavitha said Telangana Jagruthi was created to preserve the state’s identity, culture, and resources. She stated that it continues to follow KCR’s vision and Professor Jayashankar’s ideals.

She targeted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, noting that he never raised the slogan “Jai Telangana” during the movement for statehood. Kavitha also mocked Congress for holding what she called “token dharnas” in Delhi, dismissing them as symbolic.

Kavitha said Telangana Jagruthi is preparing an action plan focused on BC rights. She announced that the group would soon launch statewide agitations.

She also criticised BJP MP Bandi Sanjay, accusing him of consistently opposing Muslim inclusion in BC quotas while remaining silent on broader BC issues. “It’s strange if Bandi doesn’t speak about Muslim quotas,” she said. She claimed the BJP had deceived BCs repeatedly.

Kavitha demanded that the Congress government lead an all-party delegation to Delhi. She urged Congress to involve other parties, meet the President, and present a united appeal on BC reservations.

She revealed that Jagruthi had planned a 72-hour protest but was denied court permission. New committees will be formed across Telangana by August 15, she said. Kavitha added that people from all communities were ready to join the campaign.
