HYDERABAD, February 1: MLC Kavitha has expressed dissatisfaction with the Union Budget 2025-26, stating that it neglects Telangana. She conveyed her concerns through a post on X (formerly Twitter), remarking, “8 BJP MPs + 8 Congress MPs = ₹0 for Telangana.” This comment underscores her view that despite having eight MPs each from the BJP and Congress representing Telangana in the Lok Sabha, the state received no allocations in the Union Budget.
The Union Budget, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, has faced criticism from opposition parties for various reasons, including the perceived omission of Telangana in budgetary allocations. In contrast, the budget allocated ₹12,157.53 crore for the Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, a special package of ₹11,440 crore was recently announced by the Centre for the revival of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
Kavitha’s remarks highlight concerns about the representation and effectiveness of Telangana’s MPs in securing funds for the state. The allocation disparities between states have become a focal point in the ongoing budget discussions.
