MLA Sanjay Kumar urges sportspersons to aim for Olympic medals

Hyderabad: Jagtial MLA Dr. Sanjay Kumar urged sportspersons to set clear goals and strive to win Olympic medals. He inaugurated the Telangana Women’s Inter-District Softball Championship at Geetha Vidyalayam Grounds in Jagtial on Saturday.

While addressing the audience, the MLA said education, sports, and fine arts together build a complete personality. Moreover, he emphasized that regular encouragement and infrastructure support can help athletes reach global standards. “With the State Sports Policy, Telangana introduced 2% reservation in education and employment, which will further motivate young sportspersons,” he said.

Sanjay Kumar stresses Telangana’s commitment to sports

Sanjay Kumar explained that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was taking major steps to establish a Sports University in Telangana. This initiative, he said, would improve professional training and strengthen the sports ecosystem across the state. Furthermore, he promised to develop sports grounds and training centres in the Jagtial constituency. These improvements, according to him, will help young players achieve excellence at the national and international level.

As part of the programme, the MLA cut a cake to mark the Chief Minister’s birthday. Later, he distributed fruits to sportspersons and wished them success in their athletic careers.

Sports officials and local leaders attend championship

Several sports officials and association members attended the launch ceremony. They included Indian Softball Association Joint Secretary Shoban Babu, Jagtial Softball Association member Sudhakar, and DYSO Ravi Babu. In addition, leaders such as Raj Kumar, Purushottam, Ashok Rao, Sharath Rao, Venu Gopal, Mohan Venkatesh, M.A. Arif, Kolagani Satyam, Tirumalaiah, Dumala Raj Kumar, Koteswara Rao, Bikshapathi, Srinivas, and Kranthi participated in the event.
