Hyderabad: Miss World contestants from 107 countries toured the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills on Sunday, expressing admiration for the state’s policing strategies—from crime reduction to women’s safety and anti-drug measures.
The visit kicked off with a ceremonial welcome featuring mounted units, pipe band, motorcycle riders, and the sniffer dog squad. Inside the command auditorium, police officials briefed the delegates with a presentation detailing Telangana’s high-tech approach to law enforcement.
Officials highlighted that crime in the state had dropped by 17 per cent thanks to firm state policies. The presentation noted global recognition for the force, including international awards. Special attention was drawn to Telangana’s pioneering use of transgender personnel in traffic enforcement.
The contestants signed anti-drug posters, wrote messages of support, and voiced full backing for the police’s efforts in curbing narcotics.
Telangana’s surveillance infrastructure, including lakhs of CCTV cameras, was showcased as critical to immediate crime response. Officials claimed this made the state among the safest in India for tourists.
The event included a classical dance performance showcasing Telangana’s festivals and culture. The visitors then toured police exhibits, including weaponry, Greyhounds, Octopus units, dog squads, and more, clicking selfies throughout.
The Command Centre’s real-time surveillance systems, emergency response framework, and tech-powered policing drew wide praise from the visitors. The contestants concluded by posing with transgender traffic personnel, calling Telangana a model for inclusive and progressive policing.
