Minister Jupally visits victims of adulterated toddy; 3 dead, 19 affected

Hyderabad: Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Wednesday visited Gandhi and NIMS hospitals in Hyderabad to meet victims of the adulterated toddy incident in Kukatpally, where three people have died and at least 19 others fell seriously ill.

The deceased have been identified as Tulsiram (47), Bojjayya (55), and Narayamma (65). The victims were rushed to hospitals on Tuesday after consuming the spurious toddy. Despite treatment, the condition of several patients worsened, resulting in fatalities by Wednesday.

Minister Jupally interacted with the families of the victims and urged hospital staff to provide full medical support until complete recovery. He assured the affected that the government has taken swift and firm action.

The toddy compounds believed to be the source of the adulterated brew have been sealed, and their operators arrested. Samples of the seized toddy have been sent to a forensic lab for analysis.

Jupally said stringent enforcement measures will be introduced to prevent such incidents in the future. He emphasised that the state government will not tolerate any compromise on public safety.
