HYDERABAD: In a significant development concerning the Medigadda barrage collapse, the Vigilance and Enforcement department has submitted a report to the Telangana government recommending criminal action against 17 senior engineers involved in the construction of the barrage, part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme. The report highlights failures in planning, design, quality control, and maintenance, as identified by the SDSA expert committee. Notably, the construction company L&T is also under scrutiny, with recommendations for action against them. Among the engineers cited are former ENC of Kaleshwaram, Nalla Venkateshwarlu, former SE Ramana Reddy, AE Tirupati Rao, and CE Sudhakar Reddy. Additionally, departmental actions have been suggested against 30 AEE and DEE officials.
