Ponguleti assures journalist welfare at TUWJ Iftar event

Hyderabad: Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy gave a journalist welfare assurance, stating that the government would take positive decisions to resolve issues faced by media persons.

He spoke as the chief guest at a Dawat-e-Iftar organised jointly by the Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) and the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation (TUWJF). The event took place at the Suravaram Pratap Reddy Auditorium in Basheerbagh.

During his address, the minister said the holy month of Ramadan symbolised discipline, patience, service and humanity. He added that such gatherings reflected communal harmony.

Moreover, the journalist welfare assurance highlighted the government’s focus on addressing concerns raised by the media fraternity.

Journalist welfare assurance covers accreditation and housing

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy prioritised journalist welfare. He reiterated that authorities would resolve long-pending issues.

He assured that the government would take necessary steps to ensure fairness in journalist accreditation. In this regard, officials would consider suggestions from journalists in the accreditation committee.

Additionally, the minister said the government would take positive decisions on house site allocation and issuance of health cards. He stressed that authorities would incorporate recommendations from journalists.

Furthermore, the journalist welfare assurance emphasised inclusive decision-making in accreditation processes.

Journalist welfare assurance highlights role of media in democracy

The minister said journalists played a key role in democracy. He noted that they acted as a bridge between the government and the public.

According to him, journalists amplified the voices of marginalised communities. He also appreciated the initiative of organising Iftar gatherings beyond caste and religious barriers.

As a result, such events strengthened social harmony and unity. The journalist welfare assurance also recognised the contribution of media professionals to public life.

Among those present were Telangana Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy, former IJU President Devulapalli Amar and Sultan-ul-Uloom Educational Institutions Secretary Zafar Javed.

Meanwhile, Pista House CEO M.A. Majeed, TUWJ President K. Virahat Ali and General Secretary K. Rama Narayana also attended. TUWJF President M.A. Majeed and General Secretary Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin were present.

In addition, several office-bearers from journalist associations, including photojournalists and video journalists groups, attended the event. Around 150 Urdu journalists participated in the programme.

Overall, the event reinforced engagement between the government and the journalist community through dialogue and assurances.
