HYDERABAD: In a powerful show of unity and dissent, worshippers at the historic Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad staged a silent protest against the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. During Friday prayers, participants wore black armbands and offered special prayers for the nation’s safety, strongly condemning the act of terror.
The protest came in response to an appeal made by All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi, who had urged Muslims across the city and districts to wear black bands during Friday prayers as a mark of solidarity and resistance against terrorism.
Similar silent protests were observed at other mosques in Hyderabad and surrounding districts following the Friday congregational prayers.
After the prayers, participants at Mecca Masjid raised anti-Pakistan slogans and took out a brief rally, echoing chants of “Hindustan Zindabad.” The demonstrators emphasised unity against terrorism and prayed for the establishment of peace and national security.
