Mangli booked after Chevella police raid birthday party over drug, liquor violations

Hyderabad: Folk singer Mangli has landed in legal trouble after Chevella police booked her for multiple violations during a late-night birthday party held at Tripura Resort, which was raided following a tip-off.

The party, attended by several celebrities, is now under investigation for unauthorised liquor service, drug use, and violations of sound system regulations. Chevella Inspector of Police Bhoopal Sridhar said the raid was conducted based on credible information received by the department.

During the operation, officers caught a man named Damodar red-handed while consuming ganja at the venue. Further investigation is underway to determine if more guests at the party had used banned substances.

Police have registered cases against Mangli for organising the event without obtaining prior police permission and for serving alcohol without the necessary excise clearance. A separate case has also been filed against the General Manager of Tripura Resort for allowing the event to take place without securing the required permits.

In addition, DJ equipment used during the party was seized after it was found to be operated without a valid sound license.

Among the guests at the party were actress Divi and lyricist Kasarla Shyam. Police sources indicate that notices may be issued to several attendees as the investigation progresses.

The case has drawn significant attention, placing Mangli and the organisers under sharp legal and public scrutiny
