Hyderabad: Police have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with the violent killing of an unidentified man whose body was found on the footpath near a furniture store on SD Road, Secunderabad, earlier this week.
The murder came to light around 9 a.m. on 18 May when Mahankali Police responded to a Dial 100 call and discovered the victim, estimated to be in his early fifties, lying in a pool of blood. The body was located in front of J.K. Furniture Shop, bearing visible injuries on the right side of the head and ear. The man was dressed in a black, full-sleeved shirt with white pinstripes and dark trousers. His identity remains unconfirmed, and police are appealing for public assistance.
Following the registration of a murder case (FIR No. 79/2025 under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), police analysed several CCTV footage clips from the area. This led to the arrest of the accused, Shiva, alias Donga Shiva, a resident of East Maredpally.
Investigators revealed that the attack occurred around 1:10 a.m. on 17 May. Motivated by sudden provocation and vengeance following an altercation, Shiva allegedly struck the victim with a concrete boulder, causing fatal head injuries.
Shiva has a criminal record, with prior cases booked at Tukaramgate and Malkajgiri Police Stations. Notably, an offence was registered against him post the murder in this case.
The investigation was led by SHO K. Parashuram and Additional Inspector Y. Kesari Prasad of Mahankali Police Station, under the supervision of Additional DCP (North Zone) and ACP Mahankali Division.
Deputy Commissioner of Police for the North Zone, Ms. S. Rashmi Perumal, IPS, urged citizens to come forward with any information that may help identify the deceased. She also appealed for vigilance regarding vulnerable individuals and encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities via Dial 100.
