Hyderabad: Mala Mahanaadu leaders have strongly condemned the Telangana government’s arrest of community activists in Hyderabad during a press meet held to demand 7% reservation for Malas. The demand for Mala activists 7% quota is a significant issue.
In a sharp statement, the Bhadradri Kothagudem district general secretary of Mala Mahanaadu called the arrests illegal and undemocratic. He said the activists were peacefully conducting a press meet when the government resorted to suppressive action. Addressing the Mala activists’ 7% quota demand remains a priority for the community.
Govt failed to implement roster system, says Mala leader
The leader accused the government of failing to enforce the constitutional roster system in appointments and alleged that questioning such failures had led to the arrests. Mala activists’ 7% quota is tied to the broader issue of enforcing fair representation.
He criticised the Congress government for ignoring Mala concerns despite the community’s past support. “Malas stood by the Congress and helped bring it to power. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy must not forget that,” he said.
7% quota demand and warning of protest
The Mala Mahanaadu has reiterated its core demand: 7% reservation for the Mala community. The leader asserted that Malas had faced persistent injustice in allocation of SC quotas and warned that if their demand is not met, a large-scale agitation will be launched.
“Arresting our leaders for demanding rightful representation is unacceptable. This is not how a democracy should function,” he added.
