HYDERABAD: A major accident was narrowly avoided near Bhootpur in Mahabubnagar district early Saturday morning when three buses collided on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway. Several passengers sustained injuries, but fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
According to reports, three private travel buses—Sri Anjaneya, CMR, and TVK Travels—departed from Bengaluru for Hyderabad on Friday night. All three buses were traveling at high speed in a row when a truck driver suddenly applied brakes near Sherpally under the Bhootpur municipality limits. The bus behind the truck attempted to brake as well, but due to excessive speed, the buses lost control and collided with each other.
The impact of the collision caused panic among passengers, who screamed in fear. Several individuals sustained injuries, though none were life-threatening. Upon receiving information, the police rushed to the scene and cleared the road by moving the buses aside, as the accident had caused a traffic jam. Officials confirmed that 98 passengers were traveling in the three buses at the time of the accident.
Although the police initially instructed the drivers to take the buses to the police station, they instead insisted on continuing their journey to Hyderabad to drop off the passengers. Notably, regulations prohibit transporting passengers in accident-involved vehicles, but the drivers disregarded this rule.
Passengers expressed anger, blaming authorities for turning a blind eye to repeated incidents caused by reckless driving. Many demanded strict action against negligent drivers and their operators to prevent such accidents in the future.
