Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud urged the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPM] to support Congress candidate Naveen Kumar Yadav in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. He also asked the Left party to join the government’s fight for 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes (BCs).
Goud met CPM state secretary John Wesley at the party office in Hyderabad on Thursday. During the meeting, he sought CPM’s backing for the Congress nominee. Wesley said the matter was under discussion within the party’s city committee. He added that a final decision would be announced at the CPM state committee meeting on October 20.
CPM seeks an all-party meeting on BC reservations
Wesley urged the state government to hold an all-party meeting soon on BC reservations. Goud welcomed the suggestion and expressed readiness to cooperate with the proposal.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretariat members Julakanti Ranga Reddy, T. Jyothi, T. Sagar, Mallu Laxmi, Abbas, and Bandaru Ravikumar were present at the meeting.
