HYDERABAD: Popular Telugu actor Mahesh Babu has informed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that he will be unable to attend the scheduled questioning on 28 April, as he is currently abroad shooting for his upcoming film. He has requested the agency to provide him with a new date for appearance.
Mahesh Babu had been summoned by the ED in connection with financial transactions related to his role as brand ambassador for Sai Surya Developers and the Suvarna Group. According to reports, he had received ₹5.9 crore as remuneration from Sai Surya Developers. The ED is investigating whether these payments were made using funds linked to money laundering activities.
Sources within the ED clarified that Mahesh Babu is not an accused in any case at this stage; he has been called solely to provide information. After consulting his legal advisors, the actor sent a letter to the ED formally requesting a rescheduled date.
Mahesh Babu is currently overseas for the filming of “#SSMB29,” directed by S. S. Rajamouli. Following the ED’s response with a new date, his final appearance schedule will be determined.
