Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday caught Mahabubabad district Peddavangara Tahsildar and Joint Sub-Registrar Veeraganti Mahender accepting a ₹15,000 bribe through his private driver to process a land inheritance registration in favour of a complainant.
Bribe demanded to process agricultural land mutation
According to ACB, the complainant had approached the Tahsildar to process a hereditary registration of agricultural land inherited from her father-in-law. Mahender allegedly demanded ₹15,000 to carry out the procedure in her favour. He then accepted the amount through his private driver Tuppani Goutham, who was caught red-handed while collecting the bribe.
The ACB officials arrested Mahender and booked him under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Citizens urged to report graft on ACB helpline
The ACB has urged the public to report any demand for bribes by government officials. Citizens can call the ACB’s toll-free number 1064, or send information via WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB), X (@TelanganaACB), or the official website (http://acb.telangana.gov.in).
The agency assured that all complainant details will remain confidential.
