Hyderabad: A high-level Telangana delegation held a detailed meeting on the Madinah bus accident with India’s Consul General in Jeddah. Minister for Minority Welfare Mohammed Azharuddin led the delegation, which included AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain and Secretary for Minority Welfare B. Shafiullah. The team met Consul General Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri and discussed the sequence of events that led to the tragedy involving Hyderabad pilgrims.
The delegation said the accident shocked families across Telangana because the victims travelled from Hyderabad for Umrah. According to initial information shared in the meeting, forty-five pilgrims died when their bus crashed near Madinah. The leaders said the incident caused deep distress, and they conveyed condolences on behalf of the state.
Delegation review of measures after Madinah bus accident
During the meeting, the delegation sought clarity on the ongoing procedures. It asked about documentation, identification and support extended to the families. The Consul General explained that officials handled essential formalities with urgency. Moreover, he said the Mission coordinated with Saudi authorities to ensure that all required steps moved without delay.

Additionally, the delegation asked about the assistance offered to the affected households. The Consul General said dedicated teams worked through the day to manage information and guide relatives. He added that the Mission maintained contact with Telangana officials to ensure smooth coordination.
Furthermore, the delegation stressed the need for timely communication with families in Hyderabad. It said verified details would help prevent confusion during the difficult time. The Consul General agreed and said regular updates formed a core part of the response.
The delegation also emphasised that the state stood ready to cooperate with the Mission. It said the government aimed to extend support to every affected family. The leaders thanked the Consul General for the swift actions taken so far. They said coordinated efforts would help ease the burden on the families waiting for further procedures.
