LPG prices up ₹60 for domestic, ₹115 for commercial cylinders

Hyderabad: LPG prices increased across the country, adding fresh pressure on middle-class and low-income households.

Oil marketing companies announced the hike in both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders. The revised prices came into effect nationwide on Saturday.

With the latest revision, the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder increased by ₹60. Consequently, the price in Delhi rose from ₹853 to ₹913. Similarly, in Hyderabad the price increased from ₹905 to ₹965.

Cooking gas prices had remained unchanged for nearly 11 months. However, oil companies revised the rates amid rising global energy costs.

LPG prices rise for domestic and commercial cylinders

Meanwhile, the price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder increased sharply by ₹115. As a result, the price in Delhi rose to ₹1,883. Likewise, in Hyderabad the commercial cylinder price increased from ₹1,961 to ₹2,076.

At the same time, the government exempted beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana from the latest price hike. Therefore, these beneficiaries will continue to receive LPG cylinders at the earlier prices.

Analysts said the increase could push up food prices in restaurants and hotels because these businesses depend heavily on commercial LPG cylinders.

Tensions between Iran and Israel in West Asia have pushed crude oil prices higher in global markets.

India imports nearly 90 percent of its energy needs. Consequently, global price movements directly affect domestic fuel prices.
