Hyderabad: Congress leaders staged an LPG price protest in Hyderabad, demanding a reduction in cooking gas prices and accusing the Centre of ignoring consumer burden.
The protest was led by Motha Rohit Mudiraj, President of the Khairatabad (Hyderabad Central) District Congress Committee, on Wednesday.
Demonstrators marched from the Indira Gandhi Statue to Lok Bhavan. They raised slogans and banged plates to draw attention to rising LPG prices.
LPG price protest draws large participation in Hyderabad
Around 800 women and party workers joined the LPG price protest. They carried plates and spoons and created loud noise to “awaken” the Central government.
Protesters criticised the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They alleged that the Centre neglected energy security despite heavy dependence on LPG imports.
Moreover, they said the government failed to plan effectively to manage rising fuel costs.
A delegation later met the Governor and submitted a memorandum. They demanded immediate steps to reduce LPG prices.
The protesters also urged the Centre to ease the financial burden on households. They said rising LPG costs were affecting daily life, especially for low-income families.
The protest marked a coordinated effort by Congress leaders to highlight price concerns. It also reflected growing political focus on fuel costs and household expenses.
