Lorry overturn triggers traffic jam on Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway

Hyderabad: Traffic came to a standstill on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway on Tuesday morning after a lorry carrying wooden logs overturned near Abdullapurmet.

The vehicle lost control and flipped, scattering logs across the highway and blocking both directions. Police rushed to the spot and began clearing operations using three JCBs and two cranes.

The incident caused long tailbacks as Sankranti-bound travellers were caught in the jam. Movement of vehicles slowed down significantly across the corridor, especially near Pantangi toll plaza, where officials opened 10 booths to ease congestion.

Traffic also crawled at Pedakaparthi, Chityal, Kodad, and Ramapuram Cross. Police pickets were deployed at known black spots to manage the heavy holiday traffic flow.
