Mahabubnagar: A tragic incident occurred in Mahabubnagar district, where two people lost their lives after being struck by lightning in two villages of Maktal mandal. The lightning strikes happened on Sunday during a spell of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, thunder, and lightning.
Around 2:30 PM, heavy rains began with fierce winds and thunder in the region. In Supperpalli village, a construction worker named Anjappa, aged 30, died after being struck by lightning. In a separate incident, Kurva Kurumurthy, a 16-year-old youth from Dadanapalli village, also died after being hit by lightning.
In the 8th ward of Kotha Garlapalli in Maktal Municipality, a bull belonging to a farmer named Karre Lakshmappa was grazing in the fields when it was struck and killed by lightning. Additionally, paddy crops that had been harvested and laid out to dry were drenched in the rains.
Meanwhile, in Kandoti village of Krishna mandal under Maktal constituency, a cow belonging to farmer Nukala Thayappa died after being struck by lightning while grazing in the fields.
