Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao urged young women to focus on women financial independence, calling it the true foundation of dignity and empowerment in society.
He made the remarks while addressing an International Women’s Day event at Chandanagar in the Serilingampally constituency.
Extending greetings to women on the occasion, KTR encouraged young girls to stand on their own feet and achieve women financial independence through education, employment or entrepreneurship.
Recalling that he has a 17-year-old daughter, he advised young women to prioritise financial stability before making major life decisions.
Women financial independence ensures dignity and respect
KTR said women gain recognition and respect in society only when they achieve women financial independence.
He said women who support themselves through work or business enjoy greater dignity and social acceptance.
According to him, economic self-reliance provides real freedom and strengthens women’s confidence.
The BRS leader also emphasised the importance of increasing women’s representation in politics and legislative bodies.
With women’s reservation expected to be implemented in the coming years, he urged educated and socially aware women to actively participate in politics.
KTR recalled that the previous government led by K. Chandrashekar Rao introduced 50 percent reservation for women in local bodies.
He assured that more innovative programmes would be introduced in the future to strengthen women financial independence.
Women financial independence requires overcoming social barriers
KTR said male dominance continued to exist in many areas of society, including politics.
He noted that women often faced greater challenges in achieving success.
“If a man needs to put in 100 percent effort to succeed, a woman often has to work twice as hard to gain the same recognition,” he said.
Despite these challenges, he encouraged women to move forward with determination and confidence.
During the event, awards were presented to women achievers from several fields.
These included social work, arts, journalism, sanitation services and public service.
The programme was organised under the leadership of Bobba Navata Reddy at Chandanagar in Serilingampally constituency.
Former ministers and MLAs Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Sabitha Indra Reddy and Madhavaram Krishna Rao attended the event.
Leaders Narendra and Panduranga Reddy also participated along with a large number of women.
