Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday thanked party leaders, workers, and voters who supported the BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha in the Jubilee Hills by-election. He posted his remarks on social media after polling concluded.
KTR praised the party cadre for working tirelessly over the past month to ensure Sunitha’s victory. He also expressed gratitude to voters who, despite pressure and alleged intimidation by the ruling Congress, came out and cast their votes.
“Thanks to every voter who stepped out and voted despite the ruling party’s coercion and threats,” KTR posted. “Special thanks to every leader and worker who gave their all in support of our candidate Maganti Sunitha.”
The by-election was necessitated following the death of sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath. Despite 58 candidates contesting, the main contest remained a three-way race between Congress’ Naveen Yadav, BRS’ Maganti Sunitha, and BJP’s Lankala Deepak Reddy.
All major parties treated the bypoll as a prestige battle. Vote counting will take place on November 14.
