KTR hits back at CM Revanth, defends KCR over water issues

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao launched a sharp counterattack against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his recent remarks on KCR, accusing the Congress of betraying Telangana’s river water rights for decades.

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan during a PowerPoint presentation by former minister Harish Rao, KTR accused Revanth Reddy of making reckless statements under the influence of power. “It’s said that arrogance grows with downfall—Revanth’s words prove that,” he remarked.

KTR: “Revanth’s remarks on KCR cross all limits”

He condemned the chief minister for repeatedly wishing death upon KCR. “He is a vulture circling around KCR’s demise. KCR risked his life for Telangana’s formation, and such talk only shows Revanth’s pettiness,” KTR said.

KTR referred to Revanth as a man who once carried the bags of those who opposed statehood and now occupies the CM’s chair. “While we fought for Telangana, Revanth was busy polishing the boots of anti-Telangana forces,” he said.

He ridiculed Revanth’s knowledge of irrigation, pointing out the chief minister’s confusion about river basins during an Assembly discussion. “He talks about river water but doesn’t even know which basin Devadula belongs to,” KTR mocked.

“Congress betrayed Telangana’s water interests”

KTR also accused the Congress of historic betrayal on irrigation. “If talking about hanging KCR and Harish Rao is valid, how many times should the people hang the Congress for its repeated betrayals?” he asked.

He described KCR as a leader who turned arid lands fertile and brought life to death-marked regions. “That such a leader is now mocked shows the ignorance of the Congress leadership,” he said.

He concluded by stating that if anyone fits N.T. Rama Rao’s famous phrase angushta maatralu (those worthy of ridicule), it is Revanth Reddy. “NTR’s phrase perfectly describes today’s Congress leaders,” he said.
