KTR responds to Miss England’s remarks on misogyny, calls for introspection

Hyderabad: BRS Working President K. Tarakarama Rao (KTR) has expressed support for Miss England Milla Magee following her remarks on misogynistic attitudes she encountered during her visit to Telangana, stating that such experiences do not reflect the state’s true culture.

Commending Magee’s decision to speak out on an international platform like Miss World, KTR described her as a “very strong woman” and extended his apologies on behalf of the state. “It takes immense courage to call out a misogynistic mentality,” he said in a public statement.

He pushed back against any effort to dismiss Magee’s concerns, calling out the dangers of victim-blaming. “Brushing aside what she went through helps no one,” he said. KTR also called on local authorities to take her claims seriously and investigate them thoroughly.

“As a father, I can’t stay silent,” he added. “No woman, whether she’s a visitor or a local, should feel unsafe or unheard. That’s not the Telangana we believe in.”
