KTR demands strict action in drug cases, warns against political misuse

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao demanded strict penalties in drug cases and warned against attempts to drag his name into such investigations without evidence.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Rama Rao strongly condemned the use and distribution of narcotic substances. He said drug abuse destroys individuals and must be dealt with firmly under the law.

“Drugs turn people into monsters. It is regrettable that individuals in responsible positions are also using them,” Rama Rao said. He added that anyone involved in drug consumption or supply must face legal action, regardless of political affiliation.

The BRS leader stressed that he personally opposes narcotics and any form of illegal substance use. According to him, authorities must enforce strict penalties to curb drug abuse.

KTR drug cases row deepens over political allegations

At the same time, Rama Rao criticised attempts to link the BRS with drug cases for political purposes. He described such efforts as an attempt to settle political scores against his party.

He termed the practice of using drug cases in political battles as “disgusting politics.” According to him, allegations should be based only on evidence.

Rama Rao also welcomed remarks made by TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud regarding drug tests for public representatives. He said he was ready to undergo any test if required.

“I have always said I am prepared for any test. All public representatives from every party should undergo similar examinations,” he said.

The BRS working president argued that such a step would set a precedent and help ensure transparency in public life.

However, Rama Rao issued a warning against attempts to implicate him in drug cases without proof. He said legal notices would follow if anyone tried to drag his name into such cases without evidence.
