KTR demands ₹20 lakh ex gratia for families after six die from spurious liquor in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: BRS Working President and former Minister K Tarakaram Rao (KTR) demanded ₹20 lakh ex gratia for each family of the six victims who died after consuming spurious liquor in Hyderabad, calling the incident “extremely distressing.”

KTR said the government must provide comprehensive support to the bereaved families immediately. He emphasised that those undergoing treatment in hospital should be given the best possible care under state responsibility.

Describing the victims as struggling daily-wage earners, KTR warned that it is the government’s duty to protect vulnerable citizens from fake liquor. He voiced strong criticism of the administration’s inaction so far, calling it “most deplorable.”

He demanded a clear explanation from the Congress government on the safeguards being implemented to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
