Krishnaiah urges BC reservations in MPTC, ZPTC polls

Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha MP and National BC JAC chairman R Krishnaiah urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to conduct MPTC and ZPTC elections with 42 per cent BC reservations.

He wrote to the Chief Minister seeking implementation of the quota before the polls. Later, he explained his demand at the BC Bhavan.

Krishnaiah referred to the Kamareddy Declaration issued by the Congress party. He said the party promised 42 per cent BC reservations in local bodies.

Krishnaiah alleged that the government denied justice to BCs during the recent sarpanch elections. He warned against repeating the same approach.

BC reservations demand raised ahead of local body elections

Ahead of the polls, Krishnaiah demanded notification of 42 per cent BC reservations. He said the government must act before announcing the schedule.

He warned of a statewide agitation if the promise was ignored. The National BC JAC would lead the protest.

Krishnaiah cited Article 243D of the Constitution in support of his demand. He said the provision empowered the state to enhance BC reservations.

He urged the Chief Minister to honour the commitment. Otherwise, he warned, the government would face resistance across the state.
