Four-year-old Boy drowns in village pond in Medak

Hyderabad: A four-year-old boy died in a Medak pond drowning after he entered a village tank while accompanying his father for fishing in Kolcharam mandal on Saturday.

The incident occurred at Pothireddypalli village under Kolcharam limits. According to villagers and family members, the child had gone with his father to the large irrigation tank located on the outskirts of the village.

Police register case in Medak pond drowning

The boy, identified as Tanish (4), also known as Bittu, was the son of Sar Venkatesham and Sirisha of the same village. His father had reportedly seated him on the embankment before stepping into the water to catch fish.

However, when Venkatesham did not return to the bank for some time, the child entered the pond. He subsequently drowned, police said. The circumstances suggested an accidental fall into deeper water.

Following a complaint lodged by Venkatesham, Kolcharam Sub-Inspector Mohammed Mohiuddin visited the scene and registered a case. Police shifted the body to the Medak district hospital for post-mortem examination.

Further investigation was underway at the time of reporting.
