Hyderabad: Union Minister and BJP MP G. Kishan Reddy has written an open letter to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, expressing concern over illegal land encroachments and unauthorized constructions within the historic Warangal Fort precinct. These illegal constructions are compromising the integrity of the site.
In his letter, Kishan Reddy urged the state government to take immediate action to identify and demolish illegal structures built on fort lands and to hand over the reclaimed land to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for preservation.
Protecting national heritage is state’s responsibility: Kishan Reddy
Highlighting the historical significance of the Warangal Fort, Kishan Reddy said the encroachments and illegal constructions are damaging the original structure and cultural heritage of the site. He reminded the state government that safeguarding national heritage is its responsibility.
He stressed that the neglect of monuments like Warangal Fort, combined with unauthorized occupation, is eroding their historical value. The Union Minister requested the Telangana government to fully cooperate with the ASI in ongoing efforts to conserve the site. Efforts to address the illegal constructions are crucial in this cooperation.
“Removing the illegal encroachments and restoring the surrounding areas will ensure future generations inherit a valuable piece of heritage,” he wrote, emphasizing the need to tackle illegal constructions decisively.
