Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy distributed appointment letters to newly recruited Central government employees at the 16th Rozgar Mela held at Rail Kala Rang Bhavan on Saturday, underscoring the Modi government’s push towards youth empowerment and job creation.
Addressing the gathering, Reddy said the new employees were stepping into roles critical to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Vikasit Bharat 2047.” He stated that India’s demographic dividend—with the world’s largest youth population places both responsibility and opportunity in the nation’s hands.
He said 10.5 lakh individuals had received appointment letters in 15 previous Rozgar Melas, with another 51,000 jobs handed out in this round. “India is already the world’s fourth-largest economy. Powered by our youth, we will soon become the third-largest,” he said.
Reddy stressed that the Centre is working not just to create jobs but to make youth job creators. Through Startup India, over 1.6 lakh startups have generated 17.6 lakh jobs. Most of these ventures, he noted, have emerged from tier-II and tier-III towns, decentralising opportunities and reducing migration pressures.
He cited employment generation through social welfare schemes, stating 8.5 crore people secured jobs since 2017. EPFO registrations showed 3.5 crore youth (aged 18–28) joined since 2020. In FY25 alone, 1.13 crore enrolled.
Highlighting women’s role in economic change, he said 68% of the 52 crore Mudra loans had gone to women. One crore women in SHGs were earning ₹1 lakh annually under the Lakhpati Didi scheme expected to rise to three crore. Women’s LFPR rose from 23% (2017–18) to 41.7% (2023–24).
The minister said 26 lakh artisans are now registered under PM Vishwakarma Yojana, and Standup India has disbursed ₹61,000 crore, benefitting backward classes.
On skilling, he noted 1.6 crore youth were trained under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana in 400 fields including AI, 5G, drones, and green hydrogen. Training is provided in eight regional languages across hubs in IITs, NITs, and Navodaya Vidyalayas.
He concluded by saying the government had committed ₹2 lakh crore for youth empowerment in the next five years, aiming to train 20 lakh in both traditional crafts and emerging tech.
