Khammam: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Monday caught Khammam Rural Sub-Registrar Aruna red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 for registering a land gift deed.
The trap was laid after a resident from Tallampadu village in Khammam Rural mandal filed a complaint alleging that Aruna had demanded ₹50,000 to register 2,000 square yards of land being gifted to his son. After negotiations, the amount was settled at ₹30,000, which was to be routed through document writer Venkateswara Rao.
Acting on ACB’s instructions, the complainant arrived at the sub-registrar office today to hand over the bribe via Venkateswara Rao. As soon as the money changed hands, ACB officers, already stationed nearby, swooped in and arrested Aruna on the spot.
The operation was led by ACB DSP Y. Ramesh. Officials confirmed that Aruna had been posted to Khammam from Warangal just nine months ago.
