Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K. Chandrashekhar Rao and party working president K. T. Rama Rao expressed deep sorrow over the Chevella road accident that killed 17 passengers and injured several others in Ranga Reddy district early Monday. Both leaders urged the Telangana Government to provide quick relief and full financial support to the victims’ families.
K. Chandrashekhar Rao said the Chevella accident was a tragic reminder of the need for better road safety. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and asked officials to offer immediate ex gratia aid. He also emphasised that the government must act swiftly to ensure all injured passengers receive quality treatment. “This tragedy has caused unbearable pain. Every affected family must receive help without delay,” he stated.
KCR, KTR seek quick government action after Chevella road accident
Meanwhile, K. T. Rama Rao expressed grief and called the Chevella road accident a “heartbreaking loss.” He instructed local BRS leaders to visit hospitals and support the victims’ families. He also appealed to the administration to provide proper medical care and assist in compensation procedures. “The government should take every step to comfort the families and prevent such accidents in future,” KTR said.
According to police, the Chevella bus accident occurred when an RTC bus hit a gravel-laden tipper lorry near Mirzaguda village on the Hyderabad–Bijapur National Highway. The impact killed 17 people instantly and injured many others. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and moved the injured to nearby hospitals. Traffic was disrupted for several hours until the police cleared the wreckage.
Later, senior officials inspected the accident site and reviewed safety lapses along the route. They said an inquiry had been launched to determine the cause of the collision. The state government assured strict measures to improve highway safety and prevent similar incidents.
