Kavitha hints at BJP-BRS alliance after civic polls

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti president Kavitha hinted that the recent civic poll outcome signalled the beginning of a possible alliance between the BJP and BRS.

Addressing the media on Saturday, she said the BRS had weakened in north Telangana. Therefore, she claimed the party might have to consider an understanding with the BJP in future elections. According to her, the municipal verdict reflected shifting political equations.

She criticised BRS leaders for extending support to the CPI. “Leaders who once called the Communists a tail party are now supporting them,” she said. She described K T Rama Rao’s open offer of support to the CPI in Kothagudem as inappropriate.

The Telangana Jagruti chief questioned whether KTR recalled remarks made by CPI leader Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao against the BRS and former Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in the Assembly. She also asked whether the party had accepted Koonamneni’s allegations regarding the Kaleshwaram project.

Alleging political inconsistency, she said claims of supporting workers through the CPI misled the public. “This is just a trailer. The picture is pending,” she remarked, hinting at a larger political contest ahead.

She said the BJP had limited presence outside the Karimnagar Corporation. In addition, she announced that Telangana Jagruti would contest the upcoming Singareni elections along with the All India Forward Bloc. She thanked voters for ensuring victory for Jagruti and AIFB candidates in over 40 seats.

She also alleged that the Congress tempted voters in the Vaddepalli Municipality during the elections.
