Kavitha hints at reviving TRS name for new party

Hyderabad: Former MP and Telangana Jagruti K. Kavitha signalled a TRS name revival as she indicated plans to launch a new political party using the original “Telangana Rashtra Samithi” identity.

Speaking to mediapersons on Friday, she said the “TRS” title was now free to use. She added that anyone could adopt the name under current circumstances. Moreover, she revealed that her proposed party would carry an old name and a new agenda, reinforcing the possibility of TRS name revival.

Kavitha said her party would follow the ideology of late Professor K. Jayashankar. At the same time, she criticised the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, describing it as dormant. According to her, the current political space allowed room for name revival with a renewed direction.

She suggested that reviving the earlier identity could help reconnect with public sentiment. Therefore, she indicated that the TRS name revival could strengthen support by invoking the legacy of the Telangana statehood movement.

TRS name revival triggers political speculation

Kavitha’s remarks triggered speculation across political circles in Telangana. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi name had once played a central role in the statehood movement. As a result, any move towards TRS name revival drew immediate attention.

Observers noted that the proposed strategy aimed to combine legacy with a revised political agenda. Kavitha indicated that her party would attempt to align historical identity with present-day issues.

She maintained that the ideological foundation would remain rooted in the principles advocated by Prof. Jayashankar. Meanwhile, she positioned her proposed party as distinct from the current BRS structure.

The comments added a new dimension to evolving political alignments in the state. With TRS name revival under consideration, the development introduced fresh uncertainty and debate within Telangana’s political landscape.
