Kavitha demands swift completion of PRLIS works in Mahabubnagar

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday urged the state government to immediately resume and complete the pending works of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) in Mahabubnagar district.

During her visit to the under-construction Karivena reservoir, Kavitha accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Congress leaders of abandoning a vital irrigation project. She warned that the people of Mahabubnagar would not forget this failure.

PRLIS works completion delay sparks Kavitha’s criticism

Kavitha criticised the government for failing to file a review petition after the Supreme Court suspended PRLIS clearances. “The permissions have been cancelled, but Congress continues to remain indifferent. Revanth Reddy is inflicting lasting damage on his own district,” she said.

She noted that the K. Chandrashekhar Rao administration had completed nearly 80% of the work. However, since the Congress took office two years ago, the project has seen no further progress.

“Not a single load of soil has been lifted at Uddandapur or Karivena. Tunnel works between Narlapur and Yedula have also come to a complete halt,” she added.

Furthermore, Kavitha stated that a Chief Minister who claims to represent Palamuru cannot afford to ignore the region’s most important irrigation scheme. She demanded that the Congress government act without delay and complete the remaining PRLIS components.
